The Ministry of Mines on July 30, 2026, notified the Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession Rules, 2016.
The following has been stated: -
•The Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession Rules, 2016 have been amended by omitting Rule 34 and Schedule XII.
•Rule 54 has been substituted to provide that any contravention of the rules shall attract penalties in accordance with Sections 25A and 25B of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and the Mines and Minerals Adjudication of Penalties Rules, 2026.
•The amendment aligns the penalty framework with the newly notified adjudication mechanism for mineral concession violations.
These rules shall come into force on August 01, 2026.
